What To Do This Week with Elementary Music Classes?
Short and sweet post for this Monday morning!
Williams Medley Rhythm Play-Along
John Williams—one of the most legendary film composers—turns 94 years young on February 8! To celebrate, I’ve created an exciting rhythm play-along medley featuring some of his most iconic movie themes. Your students will enjoy playing along with these familiar melodies while reinforcing essential rhythm skills!
Valentine’s Rhythm Play-Along Video to That Thing You Do!
Here is a fun, simple rhythm play-along video to the song, That Thing You Do, written by Adam Schlesinger. The song is performed by the fictional 1960s band The Wonders, who are the focus of the film with the same title. The song peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in 1997.

The Lunar New Year will be celebrated on February 17 this year, marking the beginning of a new cycle in the lunar calendar. It is the Year of the Horse, a symbol often associated with energy, freedom, speed, and independence. Over the years, I have created a variety of steady beat and boomwhacker/xylophone melody play-along videos that have been enjoyable for many. These resources aim to enhance musical skills while celebrating the rich traditions of this festive occasion.
