🎶 A New Body Percussion Play-Along for Your Classroom! 🎶 KPop Soda Pop
Whether you’re just welcoming your students back or already a couple of weeks into your routine, here’s another activity to energize your music room! Last week, I shared a rhythm play-along for Soda Pop from Netflix’s summer hit, KPop Demon Hunters. This week, I’m excited to share the body percussion play-along—a perfect way to get students moving, thinking, and grooving.
This play-along builds on the rhythm version, offering alternate body percussion patterns that are a little more challenging—but in the best way! Students who love a challenge will light up as they master the patterns. Plus, the video incorporates dynamics (p, mp, mf, and f), so your students will have to think critically about how their movements match the changing volume levels.
🎬 Free Manipulatives for Easier Teaching
Just like my other play-along videos, this one comes with free manipulatives you can use to teach the patterns before pressing play. Even better? This set includes video clips that model each body percussion move, so your students can see and practice before jumping into the full routine.

🧠 Musical Concepts Covered
This activity is packed with concepts you can reinforce, including:
Quarter notes – pat knees, tap shoulders, cross the midline
Eighth notes – snap, clap, or pat knees
Sixteenth notes – alternate taps on the knees
Whole notes – wave hands in the air for four counts
Quarter rest – say “sh” or stay silent for one count
Dynamics – p, mp, mf, f
Accents – emphasize with a stronger clap or knee tap
This new play-along is a fun, high-energy way to engage your students, while still keeping the focus on key rhythmic and expressive skills. Give it a try, and watch your students’ confidence (and excitement!) grow.
